Sync your notes

Manually Syncing Notes

You can sync your notes one of three ways:

  1. From any note click the Tools icon and choose Synchronize Notes.

  2. In the Search All Notes dialog choose Tools ▸ Synchronize Notes.

  3. Using your mouse, right click on the Tomboy icon in your panel, taskbar or dock and choose Synchronize All Notes .

Sync Your Notes Automatically

Tomboy can automatically sync your notes for you in the background. It is recommended that you configure how you handle note conflicts before enabling syncing automatically. You can learn about handling note conflicts in the Managing Note Conflict page.

You can enable sync by opening Tomboy Preferences by using your mouse to right click on the Tomboy icon in your panel, taskbar or dock and choose Preferences and then select the Synchronization tab. You can also open Tomboy Preferences from the Search All Notes dialog. From the menu choose Edit ▸ Preferences.

To enable autosync, check the Automatically Sync in Background Every x Minutes box at the bottom of the Synchronization tab.

Tomboy's default option is to autosync every 10 minutes. To change how often Tomboy should sync enter the number of minutes in the dialog or use your mouse to move the time up or down.

To disable autosync, uncheck the Automatically Sync in Background Every x Minutes box.
