Share your public keys

If you want people to send you encrypted communication, you must share your GnuPG key with them. To share your key with a selected few people, export it and mail the resulting keyfile to them. To allow anyone to retrieve and use your public key, publish it on a key server.

How do I publish my key on a key server?

  1. Select GnuPG keys from the left side panel.

  2. From the list, select the Personal PGP key you want to publish.

  3. Select Remote ▸ Sync and Publish Keys….

  4. Press the Key Servers button to see the list of key servers on which you can publish your public key.

  5. To publish your key on a key server, select the key server from the Publish keys to menu.

  6. Press Close to go back to the previous dialog.

  7. Press Sync to finish.

You need to be connected to the Internet while publishing your keys.

What is a keyserver?

Key servers are computers that store copies of public encryption keys submitted to them, and share these copies with other key servers through the Internet.
