By default, Four-in-a-row uses solid red and blue marbles against a black grid when you start a new game.
Select Settings ▸ Preferences ▸ Game.
Under Appearance, pick the theme of your choice from the drop down menu to the right of Theme. The change will be reflected immediately in the game window.
